collographs at the press

mixed media plate, foil, emery board, sisal covered with tissue, three colour print, very successful and moody, I like the tree stump effect and will work on that in printing and drawing

corrugated paper on board, pressed and then inked with a range of yellows and a green, I like the outcome, a little washed out like an old hand coloured print, I will try with less wiping, but very successful

a plate with string and then contoured plaster, covered with tissue paper to protect the press from flaking plaster. inked and wired with a series of yellows, very successful if again a little over wiped.

My father, a collagraph of white crayon on 600 emery, the ink dissolved the crayon leaving a haunting image. Brian suggested a series of fading images, disappearing slowly after each wipe.

I enjoyed learning about collagraphs and their exciting possibilties for expressive prints. I will pursue this and mono prints in my ‘self portrait’ project, it promises to be quite an adventure
